Management of the Life Support team and supervision of the life support systems operations, facility operations and maintenance at Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay.

Functions & Responsibilities

Essential Functions

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: List all direct report titles and number of incumbents in each title.
• Lead Life Support Systems Specialist (1)
• Life Support Systems Specialist (8)
• Diver (4)

Other Duties & Responsibilities

• Other – Must be flexible if needed for occasional work outside of normal business hours.
• Shift changes as needed to accommodate business need

Skills & Experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Job requires a high degree of alertness to changing conditions with regard to exhibit environment and working with animals.
• Heavy lifting required.
• Exposure to animal bites, stings, pathogens, and chemicals.
• Exposure to slippery wet conditions and uneven surfaces. Climbing ladders and stairs on a regular basis.
• Required work in extreme weather conditions.
• Handling of hazardous chemicals.
• General computer and Office applications skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and the alertness of working with live animals.
• Possess experience and skill in public speaking and be able to interact with guests, management, veterinarians, and other individuals as required.

Education & Experience

• Experience with Aquatic Life Support System management or water management for at least 5 years
• Experience in the maintenance of aquariums, aquatic life support systems, and use of water quality testing equipment.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
