Mechanic
Responsible for the maintenance and day-to-day operation of the life support and filtration systems
Functions & Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Conduct rounds of all filtration areas to inspect pumps, motors, generators, chillers, air handlers and other filtration equipment daily.
Perform preventative maintenance to Oceanarium department standards.
Report problems with filtration equipment to Life Support Manager.
As assigned, perform repairs to pumps, motors and filtration equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment as needed.
Replace seals, bearings, etc.
Use hand tools to perform repairs.
Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
Communicate with other Oceanarium team members to facilitate the shutdown of filters and equipment for repair.
Assist in plumbing projects as assigned.
Measure, cut and install pipe as needed.
Maintain maintenance work logs and associated records Maintain and Repair automated Life Support System.
Assist in other Oceanarium areas as assigned.
Other duties as requested.
Skills & Experience
Knowledge & Skills
Must possess basic knowledge of filtration systems.
Must possess a basic working knowledge of the operation of pumps and motors.
Must know how to use basic hand and power tools and possess the hand dexterity to use tools.
Must possess good mechanical aptitude.
Must possess the mental and physical capacities necessary to perform the essential job duties. Must be able to work closely with groups and individually.
Education & Experience
Prior experience in pump and motor repair and maintenance preferred.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 100 lbs., and climb ladders and stairs.
Working Conditions
Willing and able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
