The LSS Manager is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the LSS team and equipment.
This position is responsible for the planning and scheduling of the LSS preventive and corrective maintenance.
Functions & Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Manages and monitors the operations and maintenance of the automated life support systems.
- Reads water quality reports and makes adjustments if necessary. Monitors the training and development of all colleagues in the section, evaluates their competencies and ensures that they have acquired the required skills and certifications.
Skills & Experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills
- Excellent knowledge in aquarium water chemistry
- Decision making and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge in systematic review and troubleshooting Aquatic Life Support Systems.
- Able to read and comprehend a habitat flow diagram and create a draft
- Proficient in current computer applications, including MS Office and computerized maintenance management systems
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Technical/Mechanical Engineering, Marine Science or equivalent combination of education and related experience in large public Aquariums
Essential:
7 years of experience in aquatic life support systems in a zoo, aquarium or oceanarium setting.
3 years of experience in a leadership role.
3 years of experience in managing projects that involves multiple departments.
Desirable:
2 years of experience in marine mammal systems
