The Project Coordinator will be responsible for providing administrative and technical support for the John Ball Zoo’s Aquarium team. They will coordinate tasks and provide professional administrative support for one or more project teams. There are a variety of tasks related to project plans, tracking project progress, preparing reports, identifying interdependencies, and ensuring that the work is completed as needed. They will facilitate collaboration and communication ensuring that all duties are completed accurately, on time and with the highest quality.

The John Ball Zoo is in the initial planning and design phases for a large-scale regional public aquarium to be built in the Grand Rapids area. This aquarium will be housed on an independent site but will be a subsidiary of the Zoo. The Aquarium Project Coordinator position would serve on the internal aquarium development team and will directly support this project’s progression.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AQUARIUM PROJECT COORDINATOR AT JBZ
This position will provide a wide variety of administrative tasks that facilitate and support the aquarium team’s ability to effectively lead the projects development. Maintain detailed paper and electronic filing systems, including subcontractors, PO’s, contract logs, drawing lists, tracking documents, project expenses, schedules, contact lists, and more. This position will manage requests and queries while fostering positive relationships for and with stakeholders. Create and prepare documents, reports, presentations, correspondence, briefs, and contracts to support the advancement of the project, all while researching, collecting, and analyzing project data.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE AQUARIUM PROJECT COORDINATOR AT JBZ
This position will require knowledge of the A/E/C industry and commonly used terms, as well as the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous, and competing priorities relative to project needs and success with limited direction and oversight. Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills. An associates or bachelors degree in a related field, or equivalent experience with work as a project administrator, project coordinator, project manager, or similar role, are preferred.
