Director of LSS Design – USA
The Director of LSS Design is a commercially-driven senior role focused on growing AAT’s presence in the Americas region, delivering world-class LSS design, and managing aquarium systems projects end-to-end.
The Director works closely with Business Development to pursue and secure contracts — acting as AAT’s technical authority in client engagements, educating the market on AAT’s LSS capabilities, and translating engineering into compelling proposals that win work. From there, the Director leads LSS design development across the region, ensuring AAT’s design philosophy and standards are applied consistently from concept through to commissioning.
Familiarity with US industry standards, a strong LSS engineering background, and a proven ability to operate commercially are essential.
Functions & Responsibilities
Essential Functions
•Work closely with Business Development Managers (BDMs) to develop compelling proposals and secure contracts.
•Provide technical and design expertise for Life Support Systems (LSS) and aquarium exhibits.
•Engage with clients to refine designs and ensure alignment with expectations and AAT SoP’s
•Oversee the full lifecycle of ASW projects, from concept through to commissioning and handover.
•Act as the key liaison between internal teams, contractors, and clients.
•Coordinate global resources and optimize project execution.
•Ensure client satisfaction with proactive post-project support.
•Oversee spare parts inventory and streamline logistics between global operations.
•Help build and mentor a high-performing team in the USA.
•Represent AAT at industry events and trade shows to expand business opportunities.

This position requires a balance of technical aquarium expertise, business acumen, and project management proficiency.
Education & Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marine sciences, business administration, or a related field (master’s preferred).
•10+ years of experience in aquarium special works, construction, or related industries.

Working Conditions
•Travel: Frequent travel across the Americas and international locations as required by project schedules.
•Flexibility: Availability across multiple time zones to address urgent project needs and oversee critical milestones.
•On-site leadership: Regular presence at project sites during critical phases including installation, commissioning, and operational handover
•After-hours availability: Willingness to provide oversight and support during extended project timelines when required
