Facilities and Life Support Systems Engineer
Under the direction of the Senior Director and Associate Director of Facilities and Life Support Systems, this position operates, maintains, monitors, and repairs the aquarium’s life support system. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Functions & Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Under the direction of senior management, the position is responsible for:
• The inspection, preventive maintenance, repair, replacement, and upgrades to the aquarium’s main, holding, and satellite exhibit life support system
• Overseeing the daily life support system logs, updating logs as needed to reflect any changes to, addition of, or the elimination of life support systems or components
• Keep accurate and up to date preventive maintenance logs. Notify management of any failure or significant issues related to life support systems equipment immediately
• Create written protocols and update existing life support systems SOP’S as needed
• Train and direct staff on new procedures, or changed procedures regarding the life support systems, as needed
• Project management of life support systems upgrades, and new installations
• Ordering of supplies, parts, and equipment for the life support systems
• Research the latest technologies, and cost saving in regards to the life support systems
• Liaison with the Animal Care staff
• Other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• AALSO certification (Level 1)
• Minimum 5 years in the life support systems field or related industry.
• Excellent communication and customer service.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
