Join our Water Sciences team as a Water Sciences Operations Manager, where you’ll play a vital role in leading and supporting our frontline Water Sciences Operations Technicians, with occasional oversight of Dive Technicians. You will be responsible for aspects of the coordination and function of the multiple specialty water treatment operations, resolve technical challenges, and ensure strict adherence to water quality standards—all crucial for the Walt Disney World Animal Programs Water Sciences Systems.

If selected for this full-time salaried role, you will report to the Water Sciences Senior Operations Manager.

Functions & Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Oversee daily operations of water filtration and disinfection systems to maintain optimal water quality
    Lead and support Water Sciences Technicians, with occasional responsibility for Dive Technicians as needed
  • Conduct water quality analysis and testing of critical system components
  • Monitor filtration automation and track key water treatment parameters
  • Coordinate system outages to minimize downtime and ensure animal habitats remain safe during maintenance
  • Develop staff schedules to support 24-hour monitoring of life support systems
  • Work a structured 4-day, 10-hour schedule, with flexibility for occasional 3rd shift assignments based on operational needs
Skills & Experience

Knowledge & Skills

  • Documented experience in the operation of and application of specialized water treatment systems
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead technical personnel
  • In depth knowledge of Water Sciences/Life Support systems design and function
  • Knowledge of applied water chemistry principles and water distribution processes
  • Familiarity with computer automation, filtration, and disinfection systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/schematics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution
  • Minimum three years of combined education and industry experience
  • Experience with work scheduling methods and operational planning
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills across multiple disciplines
  • Prior management or leadership experience is preferred

High School Degree or equivalent
