Walt Disney World is seeking a Water Sciences System Technician to join our dedicated Water Sciences team. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining the health and safety of our aquatic animal habitats by operating and monitoring advanced water treatment systems. Your responsibilities include performing system checks, interpreting data, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with strict water quality standards – key to supporting our world-class aquatic animal care program.

If selected for this opportunity, you will report directly to the Water Sciences Operations Managers.

This is a Casual Temporary / Seasonal position with variable hours based on business needs.

Functions & Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Perform daily checks and operations of water filtration and disinfection equipment
  • Maintain accurate logs and generate reports on system parameters
  • Conduct water quality analysis and testing of critical Water Sciences components
  • Remove debris and maintain cleanliness in animal habitats
  • Perform minor maintenance and upkeep of water treatment system equipment
Skills & Experience

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong commitment to implementing best practices and standardized procedures
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with PC-based software, including Microsoft Office
  • Basic understanding of chemistry, biology, and physics concepts
  • Exceptional record-keeping and documentation skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused when resolving issues
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Positive guest interaction skills
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Knowledge of water filtration systems, including filters, valves, pumps, and disinfection processes
  • Familiarity with SCADA control systems
  • Ability to manage contracted service providers
  • Understanding of water chemistry principles as they relate to life support systems (e.g., DO, pH, temperature, nitrogen cycle, turbidity, ORP/HRR, oxidizers, algaecides, biological filtration)
